Apple is expanding its footprint in Singapore in a big way. The iPhone maker announced that it plans to spend over US$250 million (~S$340 million) to expand its campus in Ang Mo Kio. According to Apple, the expanded campus will provide space for “new roles in AI and other key functions”.

Apple has had a presence in Singapore for over 40 years. Its operations started here in 1981 with just 72 employees focused on the legendary Apple II. Today, Apple has over 3,600 employees in Singapore and its offices here are an important hub for operations in the region.

Singapore is one of the few places in the world where you can find a Vision Pro lab, and recently, Apple opened Southeast Asia’s first Developer Centre here in the one-north district.

Construction on the expanded campus will begin later this year. According to Apple, two buildings acquired in 2022 adjacent to the company’s existing offices will undergo a major upgrade. 

Sadly, Apple did not say when it expects construction to be completed. However, it did say that like all other Apple facilities around the world, the new campus will run on 100% renewable energy. Back in 2015, the company said that its offices in Singapore will run entirely using solar energy. Finally, Apple intends for the expanded campus to attain LEED Gold certification.
